Yes, it's now 6-26, but today was a good day! Got up early enough to get a load of laundry done and work up the pencil drawings that eventually became this:


All before going to work at 10:30!

Done for a jam at deviant art--of my favorite character of all time, Barbara Gordon (also known as Batgirl or Oracle. I've been long overdue drawing Babs as Oracle.

Nice to get something arty done again finally--of course, now I'm up too late. Time for bed!

20080617--Fireflies

The laundry facilities in my apartment are in the basement and I can only access it from outside.

Today I was going down there at dusk and out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a flash. I paused and waited, and sure enough, it was a firefly. I waited longer and sure enough another popped up and then another. There may have been four or five flitting around that tiny yard.

It's been years since I've seen a firefly. I remember when chasing them was a nightly summer ritual. That was decades ago.

I was tempted to stop and watch for more, but the yard really belongs to my neighbors so I didn't.

I usually look back on my childhood years with disdain, but tonight I miss them.
