Gonna try to start using this blog again.

Back when I was first really getting into comics one of the things that really hooked me was a 30 pack of Marvel Comics my parents got me for Christmas. It was great-- all the comics were from the same month, and it was like a little snapshot of what was going on in the whole Marvel Universe. Getting them every year kinda helped keep me up to date on what was going on outside of "The Incredible Hulk," which was the one series I was getting every month.

Nowadays, of course, 30 comics would cost like $100 bucks. But I missed that annual ritual of pouring over all that universe had to offer.

So this weekend my local comic store is having its annual anniversary sale, in which all of its regular back issues in the bins are one dollar each. Usually I skip these sales because I don't have a lot of interest in back issues--either I've gotten the comic already when it came out or I catch it in a trade collection. But this time I got the brilliant idea to replicate that old 30 pack experience. I made a list of 30 titles--15 DC, 14 Marvel, and G.I. Joe just for fun, and went and pulled the most recent of each from the bin. So now I'm looking forward to going through and seeing what's going on in the comics world. It won't quite be the same, as the comics won't all be form exactly the same month, but most of them are from the last year, so that should be good enough. I'll let you know what I think!
